Aleksi Heinilä is a Senior Lecturer (part-time) in Environmental Law at the University of Eastern Finland's Law School, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. His research focuses on environmental law, planning law, building law, and collaborative governance. He has contributed to strategic research initiatives such as the 'CORE' consortium addressing fragmented societies and the 'TRANAPLAN' project analyzing democratic planning frameworks. Heinilä holds a PhD in planning and building law (2017) and has extensive experience in Finnish environmental administration. His work emphasizes legal frameworks for sustainable development, spatial policy, and regulatory compliance. Key publications include analyses on snow storage legal guidance, urban-regional planning institutionalization, and national land use policy objectives.
