Aleksandra Milićević Kalašić serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at Singidunum University's Faculty of Media and Communications (FMK) in Belgrade. With over thirty years of experience in non-institutional elderly care and palliative services, she teaches core courses including Social Work in Humanitarian Organizations, General Psychopathology, and Preventive Programs in Psycho-Social Protection. Her institutional leadership extends to the Serbian Red Cross as Health Commission President since 2010 and the World Psychiatric Organization as Vice President of the Section for Psychiatry of the Third Age.
Her educational foundation includes:
- Basic medical studies at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine
- Master's degree in neuropsychology (University of Belgrade)
- Doctorate in medical sciences specializing in neuropsychiatry (University of Belgrade)
- Fogarty Program Fellowship in Public Health at UC Berkeley
Professor Milićević Kalašić's research centers on gerontological social work and elderly mental health systems, addressing critical gaps in human rights monitoring, caregiver burnout prevention, and ethical frameworks for aging populations. Her work bridges clinical psychiatry with community-based interventions, emphasizing vulnerable elderly populations in residential settings and cross-cultural policy development. She actively contributes to editorial boards of Gerontology, IPA Bulletin, and International Psychogeriatrics.
Her publication trajectory (2009-2017) reveals three thematic pillars: ethical governance in geriatric psychiatry, systemic human rights protections for institutionalized elderly, and sustainable caregiver support models. These works consistently integrate WHO policy frameworks with Serbian implementation challenges, establishing her as a regional authority on aging mental health infrastructure.
Her sole documented scientific honor is:
- Fogarty Program Fellow in Public Health (UC Berkeley)
As National WHO Correspondent for mental health (2003-2011) and gerontology (2011-present), she has directed multi-year projects translating global health initiatives into Serbian policy. Her editorial roles and ministerial conference invitations—including Helsinki 2005—demonstrate sustained influence in international geriatric discourse. Current operational frameworks include Serbian Red Cross health commission leadership and World Psychiatric Organization ethics committees.
Her field operations focus on community-based palliative ecosystems, developing non-institutional care models for Serbia's aging population through Serbian Red Cross infrastructure. Collaborative networks span WHO technical teams, WPA ethics working groups, and national geriatric psychiatry associations.
