Dr. Aleksandra Kulis serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Occupational Therapy at the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow. She has held academic positions at the institution since 1997, progressing from assistant to her current role as Assistant Professor since 2020. Her professional responsibilities include serving as Head of Internship in Occupational Therapy since 2021 and Project Manager for the HOMESIDE research project (2020-2024), which focuses on therapy for people with dementia and their caregivers.
Dr. Kulis earned her doctoral degree in physical culture sciences in 2007 and her master's degree in physiotherapy in 1997. Throughout her career at the Academy, she has worked in multiple departments including the Department of Occupational Therapy (2012-2020), Department of Physical Medicine and Biological Regeneration (2007-2012), and Department of Physical Therapy (1997-2007). Since 2015, she has been a Member of the Council of the Department of Motor Rehabilitation.
Her research interests span occupational therapy across the lifespan, with specializations in pediatric and geriatric occupational therapy, hand therapy, lymphatic drainage, and spinal disorders. Dr. Kulis has published significant research on idiopathic scoliosis, examining hormonal influences and early diagnosis methods. Her current research focuses on dementia care through the HOMESIDE project, demonstrating her commitment to evidence-based rehabilitation practices.
Dr. Kulis has published multiple scholarly works on spinal curvatures and therapeutic interventions. Her publications reveal a consistent focus on the intersection of physiological development, neurological factors, and therapeutic approaches to musculoskeletal conditions, particularly in pediatric populations.

As an educator, Dr. Kulis has supervised 80 master's theses and 50 diploma theses. She coordinates key subjects including Therapeutic massage, Occupational therapy in pediatrics and geriatrics, Classical massage of the upper limb, and Lymphatic drainage. Her teaching portfolio also includes Relaxation massage, Special massage techniques, Oriental forms of massage, and Manual massage techniques in body shaping.
Dr. Kulis maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the Polish Rehabilitation Society (since 1997), the Children and Youth Rehabilitation Section (since 2016), and previously served on the Board of the Polish Occupational Therapy Association (2016-2019). She has also participated in international professional development through the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTHE).
