Prof. Aleksandra Galetin is a Professor of Translational Pharmacokinetics at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Division of Pharmacy & Optometry (School of Health Sciences) and Deputy Director of the Centre for Applied Pharmacokinetic Research (CAPKR). She holds leadership roles in the International Transporter Consortium (ITC) and ISSX (International Society of Xenobiotic Cytochrome P450 and Drug Metabolism), currently serving as ISSX President (2022–2026). Her work focuses on drug transporters, PBPK modeling, and clinical pharmacology, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals through precision medicine advancements.
Education: PhD (University of Manchester, 2001), MSc (University of Belgrade, 1998), MPharm (University of Belgrade, 1993). She has published >130 peer-reviewed papers (H-index 53, 7,700+ citations) and supervised over 45 PhD/postdoctoral researchers. Teaching includes undergraduate (e.g., PHAR22002) and postgraduate programs (Model-Based Drug Development).
Research interests span mechanistic in vitro characterization of hepatic/renal transporters, endogenous biomarkers for DDIs, PBPK modeling in CKD, and optimizing drug therapy in obesity. Her articles address transporter-mediated DDI prediction, PBPK frameworks for special populations, and renal drug disposition mechanisms. Awards include the ISSX European New Investigator Award (2012) and AAPS Meritorious Manuscript Award (2015).
Collaborations include the US FDA, and she leads teams at CAPKR and Simcyp. Her work impacts regulatory policies and drug development practices, emphasizing individualized dosing strategies.
