Aleksandra Acker is a Lecturer and researcher in the School of Education at RMIT University, specializing in Music Education, Early Childhood Education, and Creative Arts Pedagogy. She holds a prominent role as artistic director and vocalist of the ensemble Anja & Zlatna, which blends Balkan and Baroque musical traditions. Her research focuses on valuing children’s voices in creative practices, particularly through music, and promoting inclusive education. Current projects include exploring arts-based pedagogy respecting Aboriginal culture and fostering diversity in early childhood settings.
Her work involves collaborations with institutions like Family Services of Whittlesea Council, developing workshops that utilize music to address cultural diversity and inclusion. She supervises Master's and PhD students, with recent supervision topics including post-pandemic music education and piano lesson benefits in Malaysia. Key publications include Music Composition in Contexts of Early Childhood (2022) and Adult Perspectives on Children and Music in Early Childhood (2020). She is a council member of Music Council Australia, advocating for Early Childhood Music Education.
Aleksandra’s creative outputs include performances at venues like the Melbourne Recital Centre and the Australian Digital Concert Hall under her 'Music without borders' series. Her research projects span initiatives like the ELC Children’s Chorus (Singing for the Earth) and investigations into children’s custodial responsibility to Earth through arts-based methods.
