Priv.-Doz. Dr. Aleksandar Matković is an Associate Professor and group leader at the Institute of Physics, Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL). He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Belgrade (2015) and conducted postdoctoral research at Texas A&M University at Qatar. His research focuses on 2D materials, van der Waals heterostructures, and nanoelectronics, with an emphasis on self-assembly processes and biomimetic systems.
- Affiliations: Matković's Lab, Department of Physics, MUL
- Grants: FWF START Prize (2020), ERC Starting Grant (2022)
Research interests include the synthesis and applications of 2D materials, plasmonic systems, and magnetic van der Waals minerals. He has pioneered methods for edge-specific nanoparticle decoration and explored the interplay between organic and inorganic nanostructures.
Awards:
- Lise Meitner Fellowship (2017)
- FWF START Prize (2020)
- ERC Starting Grant (2022)
His lab investigates novel fabrication concepts inspired by biological systems, such as self-assembly and mineral-inspired 2D materials, with applications in neuromorphic electronics and plasmonics.
