Alejandro Cifuentes

Alejandro Cifuentes serves as a Full Research Professor at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, where he leads the Laboratory of Foodomics and directs the Metabolomics Platform under the International Excellence Campus CSIC + University Autonoma of Madrid. His prior roles include Founding Director of the Institute of Food Science Research and Deputy Director of the Institute.

His research centers on foodomics and metabolomics, with emphasis on advanced extraction technologies for bioactive compounds from diverse sources including plants, dairy, and microalgae. Key interests encompass sustainable processing methods, neuroprotective agents, antioxidant properties, and the valorization of agricultural by-products for health applications.
