Alejandro Atenas

Alejandro Atenas is a Researcher affiliated with Texas A&M AgriLife Research and the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University. His work focuses on soil biogeochemistry, carbon and nutrient cycles, and microbial communities in forest ecosystems. Originally from Chillán, Ñuble, Chile, he holds a PhD in Soil Science and has conducted research on anthropogenic impacts on Andean temperate forests.

His research emphasizes understanding how human activities alter soil microbial communities and biogeochemical processes. Key studies include analyzing surface soil changes in Andean forests exposed to disturbances. He collaborates with Texas A&M AgriLife agencies and is supervised by Dr. Felipe Aburto.
