His academic background includes:
- Biotechnology studies at the Institute of Technology of Costa Rica (2003-2007)
- Doctoral research at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid focusing on cAMP-Crp system regulation in Pseudomonas putida (2007-2012)
Dr. Arce Rodriguez's research focuses on bacterial pathogenesis mechanisms, with particular expertise in antibiotic tolerance and infection modeling. His work has evolved from fundamental studies of gene expression in soil bacteria to applied medical research on Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. His current research develops rodent disease models for bronchiectasis to advance drug discovery efforts.
His career progression shows consistent affiliation with German research institutions since 2012, initially at the Technical University of Braunschweig/Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research where he worked on subsurface life detection, then shifting to antibiotic tolerance mechanisms research before his current position since February 2021.
