Aleena Garner, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on how memories shape multisensory perception and expectation formation in the brain. The Garner Lab investigates how prior experiences alter auditory and visual information processing, with a particular emphasis on memory's role in decision-making and awareness.
Research interests include the neural mechanisms underlying perception, memory consolidation, and the interaction between sensory inputs. Key projects explore how expectations derived from memory influence sensory interpretation, impacting both protective behaviors (e.g., avoiding danger) and cognitive biases (e.g., prejudice).
