Alec Kowalewski holds the Grover Family Endowed Chair in Sustainable Urban Landscapes at Oregon State University. His extension and research programs focus on sustainable turfgrass management, plant-parasitic nematode ecology, and low-input landscape systems for the Pacific Northwest.
Recent diagnostic work identified novel nematode damage mechanisms on golf courses, leading to improved integrated pest management protocols. Current projects include evaluating frost tolerance in turfgrasses and developing water-efficient irrigation strategies.
