Albrecht Ritschl is a Professor of Economic History at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds a Senior Doctorate (Habilitation) and PhD from the University of Munich, with expertise in financial crises, historical business cycles, and monetary history. His career includes professorships at Humboldt University of Berlin, University of Zurich, and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He has served as Managing Editor of the European Review of Economic History and Editor of the Economic History Yearbook. His research focuses on Germany’s economic history, including interwar reparations, Nazi economic policies, and the legacy of central banking institutions. Ritschl is a CEPR and CESifo Fellow, contributing to macroeconomic research programs. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary policy debates, such as the Eurozone debt crisis and Brexit implications.
