Alberto Martinetti is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, Faculty of Engineering Technology, within the Department of Design, Production and Management. He leads the Humanitarian Engineering group under the Asset Management & Maintenance Engineering chair and co-founded the Humanitarian Engineering action that established a Minor and MSc Programme in this field. He chairs the NGO Edubox, providing educational solutions for underserved communities.
Education:
- MSc in Geo-resources and Geo-technologies Engineering (2009), Polytechnic of Turin
- PhD in Safety and Health (2013), Polytechnic of Turin
His research focuses on Humanitarian Engineering, emphasizing appropriate and sustainable technological interventions for short- and long-term scenarios, Maintenance Technology, and Safety & Health through Prevention by Design principles. He has co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and organized multiple conferences and journal special issues.
Scientific Awards:

He contributes to academia through course development and leadership in Humanitarian Engineering initiatives, alongside his NGO work with Edubox. His publications and conferences highlight his interdisciplinary engagement in engineering and humanitarian challenges.
