Dr. Albertien van Eerde is an Associate Professor at the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht), specializing in Translational Nephrogenetics. Her work bridges clinical practice, research, and care organization to advance understanding of hereditary kidney diseases.
Research: She pioneered the discovery that monogenic causes account for significant unexplained kidney disease cases, leading to gene panel testing as standard care. Her work revealed adult-onset nephronophthisis and identified novel gene-disease associations (e.g., NEK8, ALG6).
