Alberte Honorè Jepsen is a PhD fellow at the Section of Forensic Genetics within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on cutting-edge applications of RNA and DNA sequencing technologies in forensic investigations.
Her primary research interests include RNA sequencing applications in forensic genetics, shotgun DNA sequencing for human identification, and investigative genetic genealogy. She investigates how RNA can simultaneously determine body fluids and provide identification markers through SNP typing, leveraging the fact that genomic DNA variations are replicated in RNA transcripts. Her work also explores shotgun sequencing methods for low-template samples and error modeling in forensic DNA analysis.
Her publication trends show a strong focus on translating next-generation sequencing technologies to forensic practice, with particular emphasis on RNA-based identification methods and statistical frameworks for interpreting sequencing data. Recent work addresses practical challenges like DNA extraction optimization, library preparation, and dynamic SNP selection for human identification.
Dr. Jepsen actively participates in major forensic science forums including the ISFG Congress, Gordon Research Conferences, and Danish Bioinformatics Conferences, demonstrating her engagement with the international forensic genomics community. Her research receives attention through academic platforms like Mendeley with multiple reader counts across publications.
