Albert Keidel is a Professorial Lecturer and part-time faculty member at George Washington University (GWU), where he teaches graduate courses on China's economy and undergraduate courses on East Asian issues. He holds adjunct professor roles and has served in non-residential senior fellow positions at institutions like the Atlantic Council and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Previously, he worked in the U.S. Treasury Department in roles such as Acting Director of the Office of East Asian Nations and China Desk Officer. His expertise spans economic development policies, with a focus on China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Education: B.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School; Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University; postdoctoral fellowship at Tokyo National University’s Faculty of Economics (Japanese language).
Research interests center on applying lessons from China’s economic success to global development strategies. He has advised governments in Brazil and Egypt on development policies and has extensive teaching experience across institutions like Ohio State University and Johns Hopkins SAIS.
