Dr. Albert H. Park is a full Professor and Pediatric Otolaryngologist at University of Utah and Primary Children's Hospital, with clinical expertise in pediatric ear, nose, and throat conditions including cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections, hearing loss, airway obstruction, congenital neck lesions, and recurrent parotitis. He holds dual academic appointments as Professor in Department of Otolaryngology: Head & Neck Surgery and Adjunct Professor in Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Park received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine after undergraduate studies at Swarthmore College. He completed residency at Loyola University Medical Center and a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
His research focuses on CMV-induced hearing loss, where he serves as principal investigator for an NIH-funded clinical trial evaluating valganciclovir treatment. He pioneered the ASPO CMV network and co-developed the first clinically validated dry blood spot CMV test. His legislative advocacy led to Utah's 2013 mandate for CMV testing in newborns with failed hearing screens.
With over 80 publications, his work spans pediatric auditory neuroscience, virology, and clinical trial methodology. He chairs the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO) research committee and serves on the National CMV Foundation board, maintaining active roles in multi-institutional collaborations and health policy development while teaching medical students and residents.
