Albert E. Fulton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on reconstructing Late Quaternary paleoecological and paleoclimatic conditions in northeastern North America using proxies such as pollen, plant macrofossils, charcoal, and environmental magnetism from lake, wetland, and archaeological sediments.
- Education: PhD in Geography, Environment and Spatial Sciences from Michigan State University (2019)
His current projects include: (1) pollen-based vegetation reconstruction in northern lower Michigan, (2) sediment magnetic chronologies for paleoclimate proxies in the Great Lakes and Northeast, (3) predictive modeling of early historic vegetation in Michigan's forest tension zone, and (4) multi-proxy analysis of the Hypsithermal-Neoglacial transition in New York. Fulton's work emphasizes understanding vegetation community responses to anthropogenic and climatic modulators.
- Scientific Awards: Jean Monnet Chair
He teaches undergraduate courses like APY 108 (Introduction to Archaeology) and graduate courses such as APY 587 (Native Americans and Late Quaternary Paleoenvironments of Eastern North America).
