Dr. Albert Churella is a Professor of History at Kennesaw State University (KSU), having joined the faculty following the consolidation of Southern Polytechnic State University. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Haverford College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. His teaching spans U.S. History, Business & Economic History, and International Studies, with accolades including the Outstanding Faculty Award and multiple Teacher of the Year distinctions.
His research specializes in transportation history, particularly the intersection of railroads and regulatory policy. Notable works include the Pennsylvania Railroad trilogy (2013–2024), a landmark 2,500-page series examining the rise and decline of America’s most significant railroad, and From Steam to Diesel (1998), analyzing the transition to diesel locomotives. He contributes to journals like Business History Review and Enterprise & Society, and collaborates on media projects such as The American Experience.
Current projects include a history of Conrail with a former executive. His work bridges historical analysis and institutional dynamics, emphasizing managerial practices and technological adaptation.
