Albert C Shaw, MD, PhD is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Infectious Diseases at Yale School of Medicine. He is affiliated with multiple research centers including the Center for Infection and Immunity, Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, CPIRT - Center for Pulmonary Injury, Inflammation, Repair and Therapeutics, Human and Translational Immunology Program, and the Yale Center for Research on Aging (Y-Age).
Dr. Shaw's research focuses on the immunology of aging, with specific interests in age-associated alterations in innate immune function and vaccine response in humans, circadian regulation of immune responses, and mechanisms of inflammatory dysregulation in medication-associated treatment of opioid use disorder. His work bridges basic immunology with clinical applications, particularly in understanding how aging affects immune responses to infections and vaccines.
His recent publications demonstrate expertise in influenza vaccine responses in aging populations, immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, and the intersection of HIV infection with aging. His research employs multi-omic approaches including transcriptomics, metabolomics, and high-dimensional immune profiling to understand age-related changes in immune function.

Dr. Shaw has served as Principal Investigator for clinical trials including 'Immune System Effects of circadian regulation and sleep on immune responses' and as Sub Investigator for trials related to lymph node tissue analysis and HIV infection's impact on immunologic signatures. His collaborative network includes prominent researchers such as Ruth R Montgomery, Steven Kleinstein, and Akiko Iwasaki.
