Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisationمعرفی
Dr Albert Ardevol Grau serves as Team Leader for the Protein and Molecular Modelling team at CSIRO, Australia's national science agency. His work integrates computational and experimental approaches to advance protein engineering and drug design, with specialized focus on therapeutic proteins, antibodies, membrane proteins, and enzyme development for biotechnology applications.
His academic background features a PhD in Computational Chemistry (2012) and MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2007) from Autonomous University of Barcelona, plus a Chemistry degree (2005) from Ramon Llull University - IQS. His postdoctoral training included EMBO Fellowship at ETH Zürich and Marie Curie Fellowship at Max Planck Institute.
Research spans computational structural biology, biomolecular modeling, and biophysics with emphases on de-novo protein folding, statistical mechanics, ML/AI applications, CryoEM refinement, and X-ray crystallography. His methodology bridges theoretical chemistry with practical biotechnology solutions while maintaining active science outreach and teaching commitments.
Publication trends reveal expertise in protein dynamics mechanisms and computational method development, particularly in membrane protein function, amyloid interactions, and protein folding simulations across high-impact journals including Science, PNAS, and Nanoscale.
Key scientific recognitions include:
- Marie S. Curie fellowship (EU, 2015-2017)
- EMBO long-term fellowship (EU, 2012-2014)
- Pre-doctoral FPU fellowship (Spain, 2009-2012)
He currently leads work packages in CSIRO's Ending Plastic Waste Mission while directing computational support for hit-to-lead optimization, virtual docking, and high-throughput screening. His team delivers integrated solutions through advanced modeling techniques including molecular dynamics and machine learning applications.
As active First Aid Officer (2022-present) and community science advocate, he extends impact beyond research into workplace safety and public engagement with molecular science.
