Professor Alastair Noyce is a Professor in Neurology and Neuroepidemiology at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), based in the Wolfson Institute of Population Health’s Centre for Preventive Neurology (CPN), where he serves as deputy lead. He is also a Consultant Neurologist at Barts Health NHS Trust. His roles include co-principal investigator of the PREDICT-PD study, principal investigator for the East London Parkinson’s Disease project, and chief investigator for Access-PD. He holds editorial and leadership positions in the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) and the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2).
Education: Graduated from Barts and the London School of Medicine (QMUL) in 2007, completed an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at UCL, a PhD in Neuroscience at UCL (2012–2016), and an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (2014–2016).
Research Focus: Parkinson’s disease and neurodegenerative disorders, emphasizing early detection, epidemiology, genetics, and environmental factors. He also investigates neurological impacts of nitrous oxide misuse, leading national clinical guidance. Active in leadership training via the MDS LEAP program.
Professional Involvement: Chair of the MDS Epidemiology Study Group, member of GP2, and Associate Editor for the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease. Leads GP2’s Training and Networking and Prodromal PD working groups.
Supervision: Advises several PhD/MSc students on topics ranging from genetic determinants of Parkinson’s to cognitive features and diverse population studies.
