Alar Leibak is an Associate Professor (0.75 FTE) at Tallinn University's School of Digital Technologies since September 2018, previously holding positions at Tallinn University of Technology including Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in the Department of Cybernetics and Department of Mathematics. His academic career spans over 15 years with continuous appointments in mathematics and cybernetics departments.
His research focuses on mathematical control theory, reduction theory of quadratic forms over algebraic number fields, geometry of numbers applications, and additive generalizations of Voronoi theory. These specialized areas represent advanced intersections of algebraic number theory and geometric methods in mathematics.
Leibak serves as a Zentralblatt MATH reviewer since 2016 and is a member of the Estonian Mathematics Association. His professional activities include participation in multiple research projects such as 'Digital technology as a catalyst for the modernization of mathematics education' (2021-2022) and 'Modern applied methods of algebra and analysis in the theory of differential and integral equations' (2009-2014), demonstrating sustained engagement in both theoretical and applied mathematical research.
- Doctoral research on Voronoi theory generalization completed in 2006
- Active contributor to Estonian mathematical research community
- Specialized expertise in algebraic structures and mathematical analysis applications
