Gerecke's research combines academic and artistic methods to analyze urban spatial politics through site-based dance and everyday choreographies. Her book project Moving Publics examines how movement patterns in public spaces reveal and reshape social relations, with particular focus on embodied assembly and gravity-ground-body dynamics.
Her publications in Performance Matters Journal, Canadian Theatre Review, and The Futures of Dance Studies demonstrate consistent engagement with site-responsive performance and urban mobility themes. Awards include the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship (2016-19), Trudeau Scholarship (2011-15), and Robert Lawrence Prize (2019).
