Alan W. Todd is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Coastal Carolina University. He holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (History of Ancient Judaism) from Duke University (2014), with additional degrees including an M.A. in Religious Studies (Duke, 2007) and a B.A. in History with a Philosophy minor (University of Arizona, 2000).

- Focuses on Jewish identity formation under Greek/Roman cultural norms
- Integrates archaeological fieldwork and textual analysis
His research examines ancient Jewish dining practices as identity markers, biblical exegesis in early Jewish/Christian communities, and Greco-Roman archaeology. Recent publications include contributions to Duke's Sepphoris Regional Project and studies on feasting rituals. Alan teaches courses on world religions, Judaism, Christianity, biblical archaeology, and agrarian ethics.
He has presented at national conferences on topics ranging from Jewish dining customs to early Christian art. Prior academic roles include Visiting Research Scholar at Duke's Center for Jewish Studies and teaching positions at Meredith College.
