Dr Alan Reeve is a Reader in Planning and Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University, School of the Built Environment. He teaches Urban Design, supervises PhD students, and actively contributes to academic governance as a member of the University Academic Board and Chair of the University and Colleges Union (UCU) Branch. His research focuses on urban design, historic conservation, and town centre regeneration, with particular emphasis on heritage investment impacts and place evaluation. He has led evaluations for initiatives like the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Transport for London.
Reeve holds a PhD alongside multiple degrees including a BA in English, Architecture, and Education (PGCE), and advanced urban design qualifications. His work bridges theoretical urban studies with practical policy analysis, addressing topics like railway station public spaces, hybrid urban networks in Hong Kong, and the socio-spatial impacts of megaprojects in China and South Korea.
Research grants include Transport for London’s station design study and Heritage Lottery Fund’s THI evaluation. His advisory roles include directing Urban Design research degrees and serving as External Examiner for Milan’s Domus Academy. Professional activities span AESOP conference roles and urban design advocacy in the UK academic sector.
