معرفی
Alan P. Fields is a Professor of Cancer Biology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He leads a research laboratory focused on the genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology of lung, ovarian, head and neck cancers, particularly the role of protein kinase C (PKC) family members in cancer development. His work includes developing cell and mouse models to study PKC isozymes' roles in carcinogenesis, with a focus on PKCι as a major oncogenic driver.
Education:
- PhD in Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center
- BS in Chemistry and Biology from George Washington University
Research Interests:
Dr. Fields' lab investigates how PKC isozymes contribute to cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis. Recent work includes developing PKCι inhibitors for clinical use in lung and ovarian cancer. Key areas:
- PKC signaling pathways in oncogenesis
- Preclinical models of PKC-driven cancers
- Therapeutic intervention strategies targeting PKCι
Grants & Projects:
- NIH-funded projects on PKCι-driven lung squamous cell carcinoma (2021-2025)
- Therapeutic targeting of Kras-driven lung adenocarcinoma (2016-2021)
- Next Generation TOP1 Inhibition for Uterine Serous Carcinoma (2009-2025)
Awards:
- Investigator of the Year, Mayo Clinic (2020)
- Monica Flynn Jacoby Professor for Cancer Research (2011)
Labs/Teams: His lab is part of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center's Women's Cancer and Experimental Therapeutics programs.
