Baoan Ji, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Cancer Biology and Consultant in the Department of Cancer Biology at Mayo Clinic, with a joint appointment in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His research focuses on pancreatic inflammation, tumorigenesis, and pancreatic cancer mechanisms. He holds expertise in animal models, genetic approaches targeting pancreatic duct cells, and Aurora kinase A therapy. Key areas include dissecting Ras signaling pathways and developing clinically relevant cancer models.
Education: Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Michigan; Ph.D. in Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology from Beijing Medical University; MD from Binzhou Medical College.
Research Interests: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma origins, gene manipulation in pancreatic cells, KRas mutations in cancer progression, and therapeutic strategies for inflammation-driven cancers. His work aims to translate findings into novel treatments and prevention methods.
Recent studies emphasize genetic engineering techniques (e.g., CRISPR) and AI-driven body composition analysis in pancreatitis outcomes. Collaborations span hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal research fields.
