Alan Mittelstaedt

Alan Mittelstaedt is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice of Journalism at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. He focuses on teaching and advising in journalism, emphasizing accountability journalism, investigative reporting, politics, and media literacy. He co-teaches international courses on religion, politics, and culture with Prof. Diane Winston, collaborating with The GroundTruth Project. His work addresses challenges to democracy, including disinformation and voting rights advocacy. He advises the Politics Desk and coaches graduate students in the Media Center, aiming to leverage its potential as a leading regional news source.
