Alan Lymbery is a Professor at Murdoch University's Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems within the Harry Butler Institute. His research focuses on the evolutionary ecology of parasitic disease in aquatic ecosystems.
He investigates host-parasite interactions, their evolution, and impacts on biodiversity. Research themes include baseline ecosystem studies and wildlife ecology/behavior.
Current projects examine parasite diversity in Australian wildlife, climate change impacts on aquatic parasites, and sustainable aquaculture alternatives. His work spans freshwater and marine systems, combining ecological fieldwork with molecular techniques.
