Alan J Warren serves as Professor of Haematology at the University of Cambridge, based at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) within the School of Clinical Medicine. As a Principal Investigator, he leads research on ribosome assembly mechanisms and their pathogenic role in inherited and acquired blood cancers.
His work integrates structural biology, biochemistry, and model organisms to dissect fundamental cellular processes. Research strategically aligns with CIMR's focus on Organelle Biology and Rare Genetic Diseases, investigating how ribosomal defects drive disease pathogenesis through molecular and cellular mechanisms.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci)
Warren supervises eight researchers including Zakaria Boukerrou, Alexandre Faille, and Jacob Gordon, with current funding from Bloodwise, Medical Research Council, and National Institute for Health Research. His laboratory leverages CIMR's advanced facilities in microscopy, proteomics, and structural biology to advance understanding of ribosome biogenesis in human disease contexts.
