معرفی
Alan H. Guth is the Victor F. Weisskopf Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Science, affiliated with the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics. His career has transformed cosmology through the groundbreaking theory of cosmic inflation, proposed in 1981 to address critical problems in the standard Big Bang model.
- Research Focus: Theoretical particle physics applied to early universe cosmology, including eternal inflation, quantum tunneling creation of universes, and high-precision analysis of cosmic background radiation.
- Awards & Honors:
- Kavli Prize (2014)
- Breakthrough Prize (2012)
- Gruber Cosmology Prize (2004)
- Isaac Newton Medal (2009)
- APS Fellow (1985)
- Teaching Excellence: Recognized with MIT's School of Science Prize for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (1998) and Margaret MacVicar Faculty Fellow (2002).
His work connects particle physics with cosmological observations, enabling rigorous mathematical analysis of density fluctuations and inspiring decades of experimental verification through COBE, WMAP, and Planck missions.
