معرفی
Professor Alan Drew is a Professor of Experimental Physics at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), affiliated with the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences and the Centre for Experimental and Applied Physics. He holds roles such as Director of the Materials Research Institute and Head of the Research Centre for Condensed Matter and Materials Physics. His career includes prestigious fellowships like the ERC Fellow (2012) and Leverhulme Fellow (2008).
Educational Background: Drew earned a B.Sc. in Physics (2:1) from the University of Birmingham (1996-1999), an M.Phil. in Materials Engineering from the University of Birmingham (1999-2000), and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of St Andrews (2000-2004).
Research Interests: His work focuses on materials physics, particularly using spin-sensitive and structural probes to study materials for energy (e.g., batteries, solar cells), spintronics, and radiation detection. Recent projects include organic-inorganic hybrid systems for radiation detection and developing battery technologies in Indonesia. He founded the Indonesian National Batteries Research Institute (2020) and led climate change initiatives.
Grants & Awards: Notable grants include a £150k DSTL project on X-ray detectors (2024–2025) and £751k from EPSRC for Na-ion battery research. Awards include the Changjiang Distinguished Professor (2015) and Talent 1000 Scholar (2014).
Advising & Labs: Drew supervises multiple PhD students (e.g., Evangelin Hutamaningtyas on battery anodes, Sarah Alsharif on radiation detectors) and has advised over 20 past students. His lab collaborations include work with the Paul Scherrer Institute, ISIS Facility, and Sichuan University.
