Alan B. Diekman is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, and an Associate Member of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. His research focuses on glycoconjugates in the mammalian reproductive tract, particularly CD52's role in sperm maturation, fertilization, and immune infertility.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Northwestern University
- B.S., Hope College
His work explores structural and functional aspects of sperm glycocalyx modifications, including galectin interactions, carbohydrate epitopes, and their implications for immunocontraception. Publications highlight galectin-3, CD52 glycoforms, and calcium-binding proteins in seminal plasma and sperm membranes.
Research trends include analyzing glycosylation patterns in reproductive biology, protein-prostasome associations, and developing animal models for contraceptive vaccines. Key collaborations span the Herr Lab and institutions like the Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
