Alain Togbe is a Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University Northwest (PNW), specializing in Number Theory and Diophantine Problems. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Laval University, Canada, and has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. His research focuses on solving Diophantine equations, Pell equations, and problems involving Fibonacci and Lucas numbers.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Université Laval, Canada (1997)
- M.S. in Number Theory, Université Laval, Canada (1994)
- DEA in Mathematics (Differential Geometry), University of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (1988)
- B.S. in Mathematics, National University of Benin (1984)
Research Interests: Togbe’s work centers on Diophantine equations, including studies of Pell equations, exponential equations, and number sequences like Fibonacci and Tribonacci numbers. He explores connections between these areas and their applications in pure mathematics. Recent studies include investigations into repdigits, Cullen numbers, and Thue equations.
Publications: His research spans over 25 years, with contributions to journals such as Acta Arithmetica, The Fibonacci Quarterly, and Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society. Key themes include solving equations involving balancing numbers, Tribonacci sequences, and repdigit representations. Recent work addresses conjectures related to Tribonacci multiplicity and Pell equations linked to Lucas numbers.
Professional Activities: Togbe is a member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS), Mathematical Association of America (MAA), and the Center for African American Resources in Mathematical Sciences (CAARMS). He has organized conferences such as the Conference on Diophantine m-tuples and Related Problems and contributed to international collaborations in number theory.
