Alain ROY is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal, specializing in family law and children's rights. He has authored over 50 scientific articles and four monographs, including the treatise La filiation – Principes et fondations. His research impacts legislative reform in Quebec, notably through his role in the Roy Report (2015), which proposed comprehensive changes to family law. He has advised on landmark cases like Éric v. Lola (2013) and served on the Quebec Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission since 2025.
Education: Doctor of Law. Research interests include family law reform, children’s rights, and legal ethics. He has supervised numerous graduate theses and lectures on family law, property rights, and legal theory. Awards include the André-Morel Award (multiple years), Quebec National Assembly Medal (2016), and Gold Laureate (2025).
