Alaa Abed

Dr. Alaa Abed is a Lecturer in Innovation and Sustainability at the Department of Strategy, Enterprise and Sustainability at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), joining in 2022. Previously, he was a Teaching Assistant at Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), University of Manchester, where he completed his PhD in Innovation Management and Policy. He holds an MSc in Management from Birkbeck College, University of London, and an undergraduate degree in Health Service Administration.

His research focuses on sustainability, innovation, R&D investment, corporate governance, and the circular economy, employing advanced quantitative methods. He is a Co-Investigator on a British Academy of Management-funded project examining the circular fashion ecosystem in the UK, exploring ecosystem orchestration and stakeholder collaboration.

Teaching includes modules like Global Concerns for Sustainable Development, Investigating Responsible Enterprise, and Business Simulation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He actively supervises Master’s and PhD students in sustainability, innovation, and strategic management.
