Akira Morita is a Professor of English at Waseda University's Faculty of Commerce (School of Commerce). With a career spanning over three decades at Waseda University, he has progressed from Assistant Professor to his current position as full Professor. His academic work focuses on English language education, linguistics, and educational technology, with particular expertise in Standard English and its pedagogical implications.
Dr. Morita received his Master of Arts from Waseda University's Graduate School, Division of Letters, following undergraduate studies in the Department of English Literature at Waseda University's Faculty of Literature. His educational background laid the foundation for his extensive research in English linguistics and language education.
His research interests center on Language Education (English), History of English, Standard English, and Educational Technology. Morita has conducted significant investigations into how Standard English is perceived by both students and faculty in British universities, examining the authority and social implications of linguistic standards.
