Professor Akintola Akintoye is the Dean of the School of Built Environment and Engineering at Leeds Beckett University, a position he has held since 2017. He holds the Chair of Construction Economics and Management and has a distinguished career in academia, leadership, and research in the built environment sector. He previously held senior roles at the University of Central Lancashire, Glasgow Caledonian University, and the University of Salford.
His research interests are centered on construction economics, risk management, procurement, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and innovation in construction processes. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of economic modeling in construction and has led numerous initiatives to improve construction efficiency and sustainability. His work bridges academia and industry, with strong international collaborations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Professor Akintoye has over 200 academic publications, has supervised 20 doctoral graduates, and has been a keynote speaker at major international conferences. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Financial Management of Property and Construction and Co-Coordinator of the World CIB Working Commission W122 on Public Private Partnerships. He has also published four influential books on construction innovation and PPPs.

His leadership in research excellence frameworks and knowledge transfer has significantly advanced institutional research strategies.
Labs and Research Teams: He leads and collaborates with international networks of experts in PPPs and infrastructure development, working closely with government agencies and private organizations. He is the Co-Coordinator of CIB W122, fostering global research collaboration in public-private partnerships.
