Dr. Akiko Ueno is an Associate Professor in the School of Management at the University of Bradford, part of the Faculty of Management, Law & Social Sciences. Her research focuses on consumer wellbeing, emerging technologies, digital poverty, and the intersection of dance with workplace productivity and mental health. She has conducted significant work on UK digital poverty funded by the British Academy, and her research is featured in the World Health Organization's Covid-19 database. Dr. Ueno serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Consumer Studies and advocates for researchers’ mental health through her role as Ambassador for the Researcher Mental Health Observatory (ReMO).
Her expertise spans multidisciplinary areas including digital transformation, metaverse applications in education, and the psychological impacts of academic work. Recent studies explore robot companions in hospitality, ChatGPT's consumer implications, and cultural differences in counterfeit purchasing.
