Akhil Ignatius Lasrado is a Research Fellow in Astrophysics at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. He holds a BS-MS dual degree from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, with a Master's thesis on 'Observational Studies of Massive Star-forming Regions' supervised by Prof. Bhaswati Mookerjea at TIFR Mumbai. His research focuses on observational astrophysics, galaxy evolution, and sub-mm/mm astronomy, particularly molecular gas dynamics and extragalactic magnetic fields. He is affiliated with the AtLAST project (Atacama Large Aperture Submm Telescope) and the NoRMA network (Nordic Radio and Millimeter Astronomy Network).
Key projects include studying molecular gas scaling relations in low-mass galaxies, as seen in his 2024 publication in Astronomy and Astrophysics. He has no listed academic awards but is actively involved in collaborative research networks. His work bridges observational data with theoretical models to understand star formation and galactic evolution.
