Aisha Shah is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Worcester, affiliated with the School of Law. She also serves as the Institute of Arts and Humanities Personal Academic Tutor Coordinator and created the Institute’s Public Speaking Club and annual competition. Her roles include coordinating academic support initiatives and previously leading the LLB Law degree programme’s Land Law and Project modules. Aisha holds a PhD in Proprietary Claims and Unjust Enrichment (awarded without corrections) and an LLB Law with Management (First Class Honours), alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
Her research focuses on English Private Law, particularly the intersection of restitution in equity, trusts, unjust enrichment, and insolvency. She has contributed to prestigious journals including the Law Quarterly Review, Conveyancer and Property Lawyer, and Trust Law International. Her work has been cited in landmark cases like Lennon v Health Care Resourcing Group Ltd [2024] EWHC 3034 (Ch) and key legal texts such as Chitty on Contracts and G. Virgo, The Principles of Equity and Trusts.
Aisha is committed to innovative legal education, emphasizing role-play and practical skills development. She has been nominated for the Worcester Student Union’s Student Choice Awards for 'Outstanding Lecturer' and 'Excellence in Online Teaching'. Her upcoming teaching workshops include a demonstration on client interviews and a session on integrating creative projects into legal curricula.
- Grants: Secured Students as Academic Partners Scheme (2023) funding for her public speaking initiative and received the Dean’s Law Scholarship for three years of doctoral research.
- Research Engagement: Presented at conferences such as the Society of Legal Scholars (2020, 2016), Modern Studies in Property Law (2018), and Queen Mary University’s Postgraduate Legal Research Conference (2016).
- Labs/Teams: Leads the Institute of Arts and Humanities’ Public Speaking Initiative and collaborates with the School of Law’s research community, including co-presenting at the University of Worcester Learning and Teaching Conference (2024).
