Dr. Aisha Hutchinson is a Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at King’s College London, affiliated with the School of Education, Communication & Society and the Centre for Public Policy Research. She holds a PhD on coping strategies of young women in Mozambique and has conducted post-doctoral research on child marriage among Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. Her work focuses on child protection, gender-based violence, and humanitarian aid contexts.
Her research interests include international social work, culturally informed child protection models, and the well-being of displaced populations. Notable projects include the 'Child Marriage in Humanitarian Settings' initiative and studies on safeguarding during the pandemic.
Dr. Hutchinson teaches modules on child protection in MA programs and supervises PhD students exploring global childhoods and humanitarian contexts. She has collaborated with organizations in Mozambique, South Africa, Jordan, Lebanon, and Australia.
Her recent publications examine child marriage prevention strategies and pandemic impacts on child safeguarding, emphasizing participatory methods and policy-relevant frameworks.
