Airi Rump

Airi Rump is a Research Fellow at Tallinn University of Technology's School of Science, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology. She holds a Doctoral Degree (2023) and Master's Degree (2018) in Gene Technology from the same institution. Her career includes roles as Chief Officer (2024–2024) and Junior Research Fellow (2022–2023). Prior to academia, she worked in IT at Tallink Group (2003–2012). She is a Management Committee member of COST Action CA21130.

Education: PhD (2018–2023), MSc Cum Laude (2016–2018), BSc in Gene Technology (2013–2016), and BSc in Informatics (1999–2003) from Tartu University.

Research focuses on P2X receptor evolution, autoimmunity (e.g., multiple sclerosis), melanoma progression, and SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics. Her work bridges biotechnology, immunology, and molecular biology.

Key projects include studying gene expression in ovarian cells (2021–2025, €560k), H-NMR applications (2023–2027, €810k), and SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tools (2020–2021, €200k). She has co-advised two Master’s theses (2019).
