Aimee Georgeson is a Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Gloucestershire’s School of Health and Social Care. With over 15 years of experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), her expertise spans evidence-based assessment, risk analysis, and complex case formulation involving neuro-developmental disorders, attachment, and trauma. She maintains frontline practice through Social Workers Without Borders, coordinating human rights and best interest assessments for refugees and asylum seekers.
Her research focuses on systemic analysis of cultural dominance, violence against women and girls (VAWG), and environmental harm. She is co-creating a study on social work students’ sustainability knowledge in frontline practice and aims to publish a systemic analysis article on VAWG and environmental harm.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on balancing rights/risk/responsibility, professional identities, social work theory application, and CAMH. She emphasizes relationship-based teaching and activism-driven change in social work education.
Qualifications include a Postgraduate in Social Work Practice Education (2018), BA in Social Work (2014), Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Family Mental Health (2008), and BSc Hons Psychology (2004). She is registered with Social Work England and occasionally consults on CAMH-related issues.
