Aimee Deconinck is a Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University, part of the College of Science. She holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from California State University, Long Beach (2008) and a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2023). Prior to her academic role at Clemson, she worked as a public high school teacher before pursuing her graduate studies.
Her research focuses on mitochondrial-nuclear DNA communication and its role in enabling animals to survive low-oxygen conditions. While she currently does not maintain a research lab at Clemson, she actively mentors students interested in research or graduate school, offering guidance on potential contacts and pathways.
