Aimee Crawford is an Assistant Professor of Communications at Springfield College, teaching courses such as Sports Writing and Media, Sport and Culture. She holds a Master of Science in Journalism (Magazine Publishing) from Northwestern University (1996), a Certificate in French Language and Literature from Université Paris-Sorbonne (1994), and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/French from Oklahoma State University (1993).
Her research interests focus on sports journalism, digital media strategies, and the intersection of media and youth sports culture. She has extensive industry experience with Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, and The Sporting News, contributing to award-winning projects like the Peabody-winning investigative series on Michigan State University.
Award highlights include the 2019 Peabody Award and 2018 Folio Award. Crawford also co-authored All Access: Your Behind-The-Scenes Pass to Sports Stars, Locker Rooms, and More, a children’s book.
In addition to teaching, she advises Springfield College’s student newspaper and Pride Sports Journal, and serves as a judge for the City and Regional Magazine Association awards. Professional memberships include the Association for Women in Sports Media, Society of Professional Journalists, and Associated College Press.
