Aim Sinpeng is an Associate Professor in Comparative Politics at the University of Sydney’s Discipline of Government and International Relations. She holds a DECRA fellowship for her project on 'Cyber Repression and Political Protests in Thailand.' Her research focuses on digital media’s role in political participation, disinformation, and AI bias in Southeast Asia. She has published widely on Thailand’s political dynamics, social media activism, and authoritarian adaptation. Sinpeng’s work bridges academia and public engagement, with contributions to international forums and media outlets like The Diplomat and Quartz. She is affiliated with the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre and SSSHARC.
Education: BA (Connecticut College), MA (University of Toronto), PhD (University of British Columbia).
Research Interests: Digital media and political participation, social media campaigning, disinformation, online harassment, AI bias, Thai political protests, Southeast Asian democratic transitions.
Awards: FASS Early Career Research Excellence Award (2022), DECRA Fellowship (2022).
