Aidan Hogg is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London’s School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, affiliated with the Centre for Digital Music (C4DM). He co-leads the Virtual, Immersive, Augmented and Binaural Audio Lab (VIABAL) and holds an Honorary Research Associate position at Imperial College London’s Dyson School of Design Engineering.
His research focuses on deep learning for spatial acoustics and immersive audio, with additional expertise in statistical signal processing and speaker diarization. He contributes to advancements in head-related transfer functions (HRTF), virtual/augmented reality audio systems, and speech signal analysis.
Recent work includes the accepted publication in the IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing on HRTF upsampling, reflecting his emphasis on
- transfer learning
- generative adversarial networks
- spatial audio modeling
Scientific recognition includes
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
He collaborates on grants such as the £65,621 Online Speech Enhancement project with L-Acoustics UK Limited (2024–2025), aimed at improving speech processing in reverberant environments.
