Aida Garcia Lazaro is a Research Fellow at the University of Bath's Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and Department of Economics. Her research focuses on the labor market, technological change, artificial intelligence (AI), skills, innovation, intangibles, and regional productivity. She employs applied econometrics and machine learning in her work. Aida was part of the Made Smarter Innovation: Centre for People-Led Digitalisation from 2021 to 2025. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of York (2014–2018).
Her teaching includes Advanced Quantitative Methods for the MRes programme, covering experimental and quasi-experimental methods, advanced modelling techniques, applied econometrics, and macroeconomic principles. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and economic equity.
Key projects include leading the Brunel Centre (2025–2030) and co-leading the Made Smarter Innovation initiative. She has advised on projects for the Mexican government, UN, and World Bank, focusing on financial inclusion, education, and macroeconomic forecasting.
Aida supervises doctoral students in labour markets, technological change, digitalisation, and big data. Her research outputs include studies on digital skill premiums, neurodivergent employment dynamics, and the impact of AI on the UK labour market.
